Illinois Turkey Hunting

Our turkey hunting property is comprised of thousands of acres spread across Hamilton, Wayne, Franklin, and Jefferson counties in Southern Illinois. We have rolling hills, river bottoms, big timber, and expansive agriculture. In some of the areas where there is big agriculture lots and small wood lots it offers unique opportunities to hunt really close to roosted gobblers, which is something you must experience. The spitting and drumming and gobbling from the roost is remarkable. Be prepared to get up early and sneak up tight to birds on the roost well before daylight.
Be familiar with your gun and have it patterned. We recommend against using reticles for turkey hunting guns, but if you are using a reticle make sure you have new batteries in it and a spare battery on your person during the hunt. Meals are not included in the turkey hunting packages, though we do make evening meals on a lot of occasions during the season. We eat out a lot during the turkey hunts as it’s just what makes sense most of the time. Bring your own food if you are inclined but understand that these are 3-day hunts that generally only last one day because we harvest a lot on day one.

Turkey Hunting Gear

The following is some turkey hunting gear you should bring with on your hunting trip. Bring your camo, rubber boots and lace-up hunting boots. Bring boots you are comfortable walking a good distance in, preferably waterproof. A boot dryer is a good thing to pack along as well. Bring your weapon in a case, Illinois requires all weapons gun or bow to be in a case during conveyance. We generally do the calling, but you are welcome to bring all your calls. Also, it is a good idea to have a Thermacell and/or mosquito spray. We have multiple pillows on each bed, but if you are particular you might want to bring your pillow as well. Bring your toothbrush, toothpaste, phone charger, your own soap, shampoo, and etc.
